Basketball Court
Vaulted Roof Structures
The Department of Recreation and Sports contracted Hernández & Alayón to create an innovative roof structure for existing open-air basketball courts throughout the island.  The award winning design involved on-site fabrication of a corrugated galvanized metal roof in the form of a vault.  Specially designed arched columns support the roof and complete the curved form.
The design won an award in 1997 in the annual awards publication of “Metal Architecture”,  and was recognised in the international publication of “Sports Structures Around the World” by International Iron & Steel Institute.
